Motion Twin was founded in 2001 and spent its first 15 years creating community-driven web games before transitioning to console and PC development. The studio released Dead Cells in 2017, which became a major commercial success with over 11 million players across PC, consoles, and mobile platforms. Dead Cells received extensive post-launch support through updates and DLC until 2023. The studio is currently developing Windblown, a fast-paced action roguelike with single-player and cooperative multiplayer for up to three players. Motion Twin maintains a deliberately small team of eight people to preserve creative autonomy and meaningful individual contribution, and operates with equal profit-sharing among all partners. The studio has never accepted external investment and funds development through revenue from previous projects.
